Success for Pullman Jack's at the British Pie Awards
Monday, 11 October 2021
Congratulations to Liverpool Chef Lee Caffery who recently claimed 'Best Newcomer' at The British Pie Awards, plus a total of 8 awards back to Merseyside.
With extensive experience in the food industry, Trained Chef Lee from Waterloo has a unique and interesting background; for the last ten years he worked as a âtour chefâ travelling the world, organising tour kitchens, and cooking for some of the biggest names in show business, such as Sir Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Depeche Mode, Kiss, Status Quo, Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Arcade Fire, to name but a few.
Lee opened Pullman Jackâs in Waterloo in March 2020, a week before the country went into lockdown, and it soon became a go to throughout the pandemic. As restrictions started to ease towards the end of last year, they appeared at many makers and artisan markets which helped grow the business by building a strong following online and creating demand for his meat and vegan products.
Lee was encouraged by many to enter The British Pie Awards earlier this year, which have been running since 2009, and unsurprisingly he obtained both recognition and multiple awards for the incredible pies he hand-makes. âI was delighted to win the Newcomer Award on Friday along with many of my pies winning induvial awards too. There were 813 pies entered so to achieve the recognition I received is a true testament to my hard-work and my products and I am looking forward to growing my business nationally now too,â comments Lee.
These are the other categories and flavours of pie that Pullman Jackâs was recognised for:
Lee also made history as the first pie maker based in Liverpool to achieve the âclassâ award and the ânewcomerâ award in the history of the awards.
